Westmoreland created this "Argonaut" pattern as a response to a similar dolphin pattern from Portieux Vallerysthal in France. The dish features a nautical theme with an argonaut shell finial on the lid and garlands of seashells around the lid and dish. The base is footed and often includes dolphin or sea serpent motifs.
