This vintage original Toddy Pictures poster for the 1944 re-release of musical “The Bronze Venus” starring the incomparable & multi-talented Lena Horne in her film debut & Ralph Cooper. The film was originally entitled “The Duke Is Tops” when it was released in 1938 but I presume the title was changed & the film re-released because of the popularity of Ms. Horne. The film was one of the low-budget musical film "race movies" made in the 1930s & 1940s for the African-American market. The casts & production teams of these films were almost all black & the music reflected current tastes in jazz & rhythm & blues.
This rare original, vintage & authentic One Sheet (27" X 41") poster was in good condition prior to restoration & linen-backing with vivid & bright colors. The restored poster has bright color & a wonderful overall appearance. Restoration addressed interior fold wear & chipping.
